A mansion in Minecraft is a house built in storeys of about six blocks each, on a footprint around 30 blocks a side, under a roof that is often as tall as a whole floor. Build it in that order: footprint, base, ground floor, each floor above, then the roof. The three-storey dark oak mansion below took 6,375 blocks, 100 stacks; the two-storey modern one took 3,122, 49 stacks.
The two mansions on this page
Both are builds by Block Dreamer, an AI Minecraft build generator that turns a text description into one Java 1.21 build (a statue, a creature or a building) with a 3D preview, a layer plan, a block list and downloads for vanilla (.mcfunction), WorldEdit (.schem) and Litematica (.litematic); it makes one structure per prompt, or with Mega one place built in parts (a village, a castle with its grounds), and not whole cities or landscapes.
We made them on 14 October 2026 in Classic, one sentence each. Every number below is read off the build itself, one layer at a time, so you can follow the same order with your own blocks.

The first is "a three-storey dark oak mansion like a woodland mansion, with a great hall, a library and bedrooms, 33 by 27" (open that sentence to change it). The second is "a two-storey modern mansion with a pool, a garage and an open living room, 31 by 25" (open it to edit).
1. Fix the footprint and the number of floors
Decide these two before anything else, because everything is counted from them. The dark oak mansion's walls stand on 31 by 27 blocks and it has three floors; the whole build, with its gardens and tower, is 41 × 36 × 29. The modern mansion's house is about 26 by 27 with two floors, and the terrace and pool take it to 34 × 15 × 29.
A footprint near 30 by 30 is what makes a house read as a mansion rather than a large house. Ours fit inside one Classic build, which goes up to 48 × 40 × 48.
2. Lay a base one block thick
The dark oak mansion stands on a single layer of 721 stone bricks; the modern one on a slab of smooth stone that also makes the terrace around the pool, most of its 1,016 smooth stone. A base wider than the walls by a block or two gives you a path round the house and something to plant against.
3. Build the ground floor, with its big room
Each storey in the dark oak mansion is six layers: the ground floor runs from layer 2 to 7, and the floor above is laid on layer 8. On the ground floor is the great hall, with a red carpet down the middle and seats along it, and smaller rooms walled off in birch.

The modern mansion puts its big room here too: an open living room with glass walls facing the pool, and the garage as a dark block beside it.

4. Add the floors above
Lay each floor as a full layer of planks, then build the walls up another six. The dark oak mansion's second floor is on layer 8 and its third on layer 14, each about 550 to 580 dark oak planks. Its rooms, by the engine's own list: a library (150 bookshelves), a trading room, a small smithy, storage and three bedrooms.
One thing we would change: it climbs between floors by 12 ladders, not a staircase. If you want a grand stair in the hall, put it in the sentence or build it yourself; it needs an opening cut through each floor.
The modern mansion's upper floor is on layer 8 and its flat roof on layer 14, so it is two storeys of six.

5. Finish with the roof
On the dark oak mansion the roof begins at layer 20 and reaches layer 33, with a small tower to 36: fourteen layers of roof on nineteen of house. That is normal for a steep roof on a wide building, and Minecraft roof designs shows why: a stair roof is half as tall as it is wide. A mansion 27 deep wants a roof about 13 high.
The modern mansion has no sloped roof at all, which is why it is 15 layers tall against the dark oak mansion's 36, and why it takes half the blocks.
The two mansions in numbers
| Mansion | Size (w × h × d) | Blocks | Stacks | Floors | Floors on layers | Roof |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dark oak mansion | 41 × 36 × 29 | 6,375 | 100 | 3 | 2, 8, 14 | layers 20–33 |
| Modern mansion | 34 × 15 × 29 | 3,122 | 49 | 2 | 2, 8 | flat, layer 14 |
The dark oak mansion is 41 × 36 × 29 and 6,375 blocks, 100 stacks, over three floors under a steep roof. The modern mansion is 34 × 15 × 29 and 3,122 blocks, 49 stacks, over two floors under a flat roof. In both, a floor is six layers.
The dark oak mansion's largest lines are 1,311 birch planks, 1,216 dark oak logs, 1,145 dark oak planks and 1,032 dark oak stairs, most of those for the roof. The modern one is 1,016 smooth stone, 479 white concrete, 313 grey concrete and 140 glass and glass panes. For a survival build, the dark oak is the job: about 1,900 dark oak logs in all, 1,216 placed as logs, about 290 cut into planks and about 390 into stairs.
A woodland mansion is found, not built
The woodland mansion is a structure the game generates in dark forests (Minecraft Wiki, read 14 October 2026); you find one, you don't build it. What you can build is a house in its style, which is what our first sentence asked for: dark oak framing, pale walls, many windows, a steep roof. Ours has the materials and the rows of windows; it is a large house, not the game's much larger structure.
What these builds won't give you
The modern mansion's first version set a fixture into an outside wall; the engine's own check caught it and the house was written again, and the second version is the one shown. Neither mansion was given the second look that Pro and Studio plans add.
One Classic build is at most 48 × 40 × 48, so a mansion with a garden, a gate and outbuildings around it is a Mega build, a whole place planned and built in parts. Block Dreamer does not decorate a house you have already built; it makes a new one. For something smaller first, Minecraft house blueprints has three houses with every block counted, and your first build is free with an account: describe your mansion.
