Die Beschreibung, wie sie geschrieben wurde ▾

A grand medieval stone castle with four round corner towers, red cone roofs, a gatehouse with a wooden drawbridge and banners on the walls

A Minecraft stone castle in 9,222 blocks, 43 by 46 and 32 tall: a curtain wall with a walk along the top, four corner towers under red cone roofs, a gatehouse with a bridge over a pool of water, banners down the walls, and a furnished hall inside. It was generated on this site from the request above, for Java Edition 1.21.

Wall, towers, gate, keep

A castle is a set of parts, each with a job. This build has most of them, and the table sets each beside what it was in a medieval castle.

In a medieval castleThis build
Curtain wallIn a medieval castleTypically 3 m thick and 12 m tall, with a walkway along the topThis buildThree blocks thick and hollow, its walk at layer 12
BattlementsIn a medieval castleSolid blocks and gaps by turns on top of the wallThis buildA block and a gap by turns at layer 14, on both sides of the walk
TowersIn a medieval castleRound ones came to be preferred: curved sides turn a shotThis buildFour, eight-sided, nine blocks across, 23 layers below the roof
GatehouseIn a medieval castleOne or more portcullises to block the passageThis buildTwo turrets, a grille of six iron bars, and a spruce bridge in front
MoatIn a medieval castleA ditch round the castle, dry or filled with waterThis buildA pool 11 by 3 under the bridge, and nowhere else
KeepIn a medieval castleThe main living quarters and the best defended partThis buildA hall 19 by 13 with two floors, five beds on the upper one
BaileyIn a medieval castleThe enclosure where stables, workshops and stores stoodThis buildA paved yard 29 blocks wide with bushes and lantern posts

The wall is the closest match: three blocks thick with its walk twelve layers up, against a typical 3 m and 12 m. The drawbridge is the furthest. It is a fixed deck of planks over the pool, and one that lifts is a redstone job we have not built.

Six roofs and a yard

The Minecraft stone castle from straight above: six red cone roofs, a hall with a spruce roof inside the walls, and a pool of water outside the gate
Six red roofs: the four corner towers and the two turrets of the gatehouse. The hall with its spruce roof stands against the back wall, the yard is in front of it, and the pool is outside the gate.

A base for five players

It was built furnished, and the list under the blocks above is what a survival base starts with.

The stone castle cut off at layer 9: the upper floor of the hall with red beds and bookshelves, the curtain wall showing as two skins, and stairs inside each tower
  • Beds and storage

Five beds on the upper floor of the hall, so five players can set their spawn here. Seven chests and 20 barrels hold the rest.

  • A forge and a library

A furnace, a blast furnace and an anvil are already in. So are 54 bookshelves, and 15 round an enchanting table is all the top level asks for. There is no enchanting table: bring one.

  • What it has no answer for

No farm, no well, no stable. Whether monsters spawn in the yard at night depends on how far its lanterns reach, and that we have not measured. Plan on torches.

Outside the walls, and in the yard

  • A moat all the way round

The water is under the bridge only. A ring three blocks wide round the walls is 540 blocks to dig and fill.

  • Stables in the yard

A real bailey held the stables. The yard here is 29 blocks wide, with nothing in it but bushes.

  • A village at the gate

A castle fed itself from the land outside its walls.

  • Something to defend against

Curtain walls were made thick to stand up to siege engines.
